How can I get my CNA certificate active again after all these years?

In 1994 I passed and received a Michigan CNA certificate and used it until 2000.  I went in to a different career path helping children with special needs and received my paraprofessional certificate and worked for 14 years as a paraprofessional. I furthered my education and took Anatomy and Physiology 1 & 2 in College in 2014 & 2015 and I am directed again towards health care. I have taken other health related courses and I want to know if any of this additional college background would help me to renew my CNA certificate or would I have to repeat the entire class over again?

In order to renew your Michigan CNA certification, you must have worked, for pay, as a nurse aide performing nursing or nursing-related services, under the supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse for at least eight consecutive hours within the last 24-month period. If you do not meet this requirement, you must retrain and test, and as far as I know, there are NO EXCEPTIONS. I encourage you to contact the Michigan State Nurse Aide Registry at 800-752-4724 in order to get an official answer.
