A newly trained nurse aide is eligible to take the written examination as long as the following two criteria are met: he or she successfully completed a state-approved nursing assistant training program; passed the manual skills exam within six months from the date he or she completed the training. On the day of the written test, each candidate is required to bring proof of passing the hands-on section of the CNA examination.
