Nurse aide training programs in the District of Columbia should prepare graduates to do the following: assist residents with activities of daily living while promoting independence; communicate and interact in a positive way with patients, families, and healthcare professionals; provide care and show sensitivity to a client's physical, emotional and social needs; protect a client's rights; observe, report, and always document a client's condition and changes in physical or social functioning.
