According to New Jersey's laws and regulations, individuals who wish to obtain certification as a nursing assistant in this state must submit to a background investigation. The criminal background investigation (CBI) applies to newly trained nurse aides, personal care assistants, as well as to reciprocity candidates. Only those who pass the background check are eligible for certification in New Jersey.
