Nurse Aide Training Programs in Florida
Are you aware that in Florida you are not required to complete a nursing aide training program in order to challenge the CNA state exam? While most states require a person to first train in a state-approved nurse aide course and then sit for the examination, things are different in Florida. Some individuals may choose to study by themselves and when they feel ready they can challenge the nursing assistant test. If you are thinking of pursuing this route instead of formally training for your nurse aide career, then you need to know what others think of such a decision.
We have received feedback from nursing assistant program instructors, students enrolled in CNA classes, and experienced nurse assistants working in the field. Most of them agree that following a structured CNA course has many advantages over self study options. The most important aspect was the exposure to the clinical component of a CNA program. During clinical time students are exposed to real life environments and have to perform nurse aide skills on real clients. Self-study does not give you this exposure and therefore you may not be prepared for the realities of a CNA job. If you truly consider this path make sure you shadow a nurse aide so that you can observe first hand the duties and responsibilities of a CNA.
