CNA Courses in Texas Region 3 - Metroplex ( Page 2 )

Are you interested in training to become a certified nurse aide in Texas? There are numerous CNA training courses available as well as a lot of employment opportunities once you obtain your nurse aide certification. Most students are on a budget and even though the prospect of getting an education is very attractive, the cost associated with it is not. That is the reason why you should carefully plan and work towards minimizing educational expenses. Are you aware that it is possible to enroll in a free nursing assistant training class in Texas? Nursing homes are known for providing state-approved, free of cost CNA courses to select individuals.

What exactly do you need in order to qualify? You must agree in writing to an employment offer from the long-term care facility. This means that you become their employee either prior to beginning the CNA program or right after completion of the course. So not only are you getting trained for free, but you are also guaranteed a job once you graduate. Some facilities will also pay you during training even though the hourly amount is less than what you will earn after becoming certified. If free CNA training is what you are looking for, then prepare to do some extensive calling to nursing homes in your area. If they don't have immediate classes available make sure you ask when the next class is offered and if it's all right to check course availability in the future.

Message: Hi, I am trying to get the numbers of the school and nursing homes that offer CNA classes.

Name: Admin Date posted: July 31, 2013 - 11:05 AM
Message: We do not provide phone numbers for CNA training programs unless we were able to obtain prior permission because they are subject to frequent change and we received multiple complaints about this in the past however having the name of the school and address makes it easy to find out their current phone number either online or from a Yellow Pages directory. Good luck!

CNA Training Requirements

There is a wide disparity between CNA training requirements among the states. The difference lies in the mandatory number of total training hours necessary to complete state-approved CNA classes.

While according to federal law each nursing assistant course should contain a minimum of seventy-five (75) instruction and clinical hours, individual states have the liberty to mandate extra training requirements for certified nursing assistants. The majority of states exceed the threshold federal minimum requirements for nurse aide training programs because they are considered insufficient to result in an optimal and safe level of care for clients.

A review of nationwide state requirements for nurse assistant courses has found that the following states have mandated highest number of CNA program hours: Maine with a minimum of 90 hours of theory, 20 hours of laboratory skills and 70 hours of clinical instruction for a total of 180 hours; California with one hundred and sixty (160) training hours; Delaware and Oregon each requiring one hundred and fifty (150) hours; followed by the state of Alaska with one hundred and forty (140) hours; Virginia, Arizona, and West Virginia have a minimum of one hundred and twenty (120) training hours for state-approved classes.
