Message: When looking for free or low cost nurse aide programs you need to start by locating nursing homes which offer training in your area. Our listings include the address of each school or facility providing nursing assistant training classes in Connecticut. If there are no training facilities in your town, widen your search by looking for schools in your county. Once you locate several long-term care facilities that are within an acceptable traveling distance from your location, contact them by phone and ask about their upcoming nursing assistant programs. It is always good to have a list of several facilities to call, since some nursing homes may not currently offer training. You want to focus your search on nursing homes because they usually cover the cost of training for nurse aide students. Is it possible to enroll in a CNA class without a high school diploma or GED?

There are no federal regulations stating that individuals are required to have a high school diploma prior to attending nurse aide classes. A program coordinator at the school or nursing facility which is offering CNA training classes may tell you if a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required in order to enroll in the nurse aide program. Some facilities do not require a diploma as long as you have completed a 10th grade high school education. In the state of Texas a high school diploma or a GED is not necessary in order to attend and complete a nursing assistant program.
