Nurse Aide Training Programs in Florida
If you have already completed a state-approved CNA training program in Florida and passed the nurse aide examination, then you have the right to practice and hold a CNA certification. Nursing assistants must understand that certificates expire every two years and if one wishes to continue working in the health care field as a nursing assistant then certification renewal is a must. Florida legislation has established that a all nurse aide certifications expire on the last day in the month of December, every odd numbered year. To remind you that renewal is due, the CNA registry will send a renewal form to the address you have on file.
The form is sent way before your certification will expire, to give you ample time for renewal. Each CNA has one hundred and twenty (120) days notice for certification renewal. The most important requirement to qualify for renewal of your CNA certificate in Florida is verification of employment as a paid nurse aide for any amount of hours in the two years prior to the renewal date. Unlike other states, Florida does not mandate that you send any documentation of employment along with the application for renewal of your nursing assistant license. The state verifies your information with employers prior to granting you the CNA certificate for another two years.
