I did my written and skills tests and I passed both of them but it has been about a month and I have not received my license yet. I would like to know how long it takes to get your original CNA card in Iowa.

The Health Facilities Division maintains a list of all individuals qualified by education, training and testing to work in federally certified long-term care facilities as certified nursing assistants (CNAs). Federal regulations require that Medicare and Medicaid certified facilities check the Iowa Direct Care Worker Registry to verify the employment status of certified nursing assistants to see whether they are eligible to work. You can check your Iowa CNA registry status here.

The Iowa Direct Care Worker Registry no longer prints or mails CNA cards, since they can be printed online. You can do this by logging in to their website with your user ID and password. The format for these is provided when you complete competency testing. If you do not have access to a printer you can ask your employer or a friend to print you a card.
