Certified nursing assistants in Florida have to renew their status every two years. Each nurse aide has to attend twenty-four hours of in-service education at the end of the renewal cycle. Another essential requirement for renewal is having proof of performing work as a CNA, for pay, within the two years prior to the certification expiration date. According to the Florida Department of Health, licensees who do not meet both of these requirements must reapply for certification.
