Delaware certified nursing assistants have to complete twenty-four continuing education hours to qualify for biennial renewal of their certification. Beginning in January of 2012, the Division of Long Term Care Residents Protection has been tracking the completion of continuing education units through the Delaware CNA Continuing Education website. Continuing education hours are mandatory according to both state and federal law. Nursing assistants must keep their skills current and need to provide quality care to those they care for. The Continuing Education website and tracking system is helpful to nursing assistants and their employers by acting as a central location for the reporting and tracking of continuing education credits.
