Private and public schools are free to charge what they consider appropriate for their nursing assistant training programs. According to the District of Columbia municipal regulations, nursing facilities who participate in the Medicaid program, who employ a new nurse aide and provide CNA training to her, may not charge for the training. All the fees, textbooks, and other necessary course materials need to be provided free of charge to the newly employed nurse aide.
