Nursing assistant certifications in Alaska must be renewed every even numbered year. At the end of each renewal period, a number of certified individuals are randomly chosen for an audit. The audit's goal is to ensure that nursing assistants follow the Alaska Board of Nursing competency requirements. Individuals being audited need to submit documents showing they completed the necessary continuing education hours. Nurse aides must keep the certificates of program completion after they attend professional education classes.
