Does my job count towards renewing my CNA certification?

Will my DSP job count as work to hold my CNA license? I would like to know if this work can be documented as CNA work. I have had my CPR card, first aid card, also hold a CPI card and have had background checks done yearly at this job. I do all the 21 skill performance on a daily basis. I got my license in April of 2006 and I have been at this job preforming the 21 skills since 2004.  My pay is 13.50 hour. What do I need to document for this job so that it can count towards my CNA?

It seems to me that your work qualifies for renewal but you should verify this by contacting the Illinois Health Care Worker Registry by e-mail at DPH.HCWR@Illinois.gov or by calling the registry’s help desk at 217-785-5133.

In Illinois, a CNA will lose their status of certification if he or she goes for a continuous period of 24 consecutive months after his or her last competency evaluation during none of which the individual provided nursing or nursing-related services for monetary compensation. If the CNA continuously works providing nursing-related services for money, the individual continues to retain the CNA certification no matter how many years the individual works.
