To be hired by a nursing home or a temporary agency that provides services in a nursing home, a nurse aide has to undergo a criminal history check. Failure to pass the criminal background check results in being disqualified for employment. Individuals who have been found guilty of the following actions are automatically disqualify from working as a certified nursing assistant in Delaware: felony theft, drug and violent offenses, any offense involving patients and other vulnerable people. Even conviction of some lesser offenses can lead to disqualification.
