I would like to know how much does the school cost and if it is possible to get free training to become a CNA?

The cost of a nurse assistant program in New Jersey varies depending on which school or facility provides the training. You might be able to complete a free CNA course at a nursing home if the facility needs additional certified nursing assistants on staff and is currently offering training. Vocational schools, community colleges, and private schools may cost anywhere from $400 to $1,800 for completing a nurse aide program.

Even though you might have to pay for the program out of your pocket, if you find employment at a long-term care facility within one year of your certification, the facility is required by law to reimburse you for the program cost. Keep all the receipts associated with your tuition, books, uniforms, and supplies if you plan on obtaining reimbursement.
