A nurse aide may not practice independently in Colorado. As stated in the Nurse Practice Act, a nursing assistant should only work under the supervision of a licensed or certified health care professional. Examples of health care professionals who are allowed to supervise a CNA include: physicians, professional nurses, licensed practical nurses, podiatrists, and dentists.
