You need to obtain a nursing assistant certification in order to work as a CNA in Maryland. Once you have a basic nurse aide certification you may obtain additional certifications that would enable you to work as a geriatric aide or a medicine aide. State approved nurse aide programs prepare students to take the CNA certification exam. You become certified after passing the state exam.
