I have a certificate in Medical Assisting and will be attending nursing school this August to become a registered nurse. I am wondering if I will be able to challenge the CNA exam around October or November. Any help would be appreciated.

I failed the RN exam and would like to challenge the CNA test so I can work in the field until I pass. I need to know if I can challenge the CNA exam based on my training in nursing school.

As far as I know, a nursing student enrolled in a licensed practical nurse (LPN/LVN) or registered nurse (RN) program is eligible to challenge the CNA state exam as long as they have completed the basic nursing fundamentals course. Both the theoretical and practical parts of the course must be completed and official school transcripts are needed for verification. As soon as you meet this criteria you may sit for the nurse aide competency evaluation. You can make sure that this information is correct by calling the nurse aide registry for your state.
