A background check is necessary before you obtain certification as a nurse aide in Nebraska. Charges on your record may prevent you from obtaining certification or, if you are already a nurse aide, from being recertified. The department looks at every conviction on an individual basis. An answer is given only after your records have been reviewed. Specific questions regarding convictions, as well as charges of resident abuse, neglect, and misappropriation of resident property should be addressed to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
